Day Eighteen and Time for Some Random Inspirational Factoids
Posted by Elisa Beatty Jan 27 2011, 3:01 am
Here are some truly random, yet weirdly inspiring facts to contemplate as you sit down to work:
-Every human spent about half an hour as a single cell.
-Approximately two-thirds of people tip their head to the right when they kiss.
-A queen bee lays 1500 eggs a day.
-On average, a woman’s heart beats faster than a man’s heart.
-Kissing is healthier than shaking hands.
-Married men tip better than unmarried men.
-There are about 540,000 words in the English language and growing.
-Oak trees don’t start producing acorns until they’re 50 years old.
-Ants never sleep.
-A rooster has to stick it’s neck out in order to crow.
Just one more little factoid:
I’m actually the blogger today on the Ruby blog. You’ll see an excerpt on the Festival’s Home page. To read the whole thing, click the blue title line, “How to Get Tight.”
Okay, folks, get to work–stick your necks out and CROW!
I’m going to CROW! I found out yesterday that I’m going to be meeting with an Agent at the New England Chapter’ of RWA Conference. So know I have to get my Query letter and first 10 pages ready to go out.
Can I just say wow hoo.
Awesome news, Emily!! Good luck!
Congratulations, Emily. Take a deep breath and relax. Remember, agents and editors put their pantyhose on one leg at a time too. And if she likes your story, she’ll be working for you, not the other way around. Go with confidence.
and Woo Hoo again! good luck
Good luck, Emily. (And you can say whatever you like!)
Good luck, Emily!
Thanks Gwynlyn and Kim. This will be my first time meeting with an agent. I’ve already bought a new outfit to wear.
Thanks, Elisa, for those cool facts!
Congratulations, Emily, for scoring a meeting, and good luck! Fingers crossed it goes well.
I’ve met most of my goals this week with writing blog posts for my upcoming March promotion for my book release. Today will be a struggle, so luckily I have the pressure of the festival.
I hope to do some revision of my WIP to get today’s point.
A release in March? so exciting. Name and genre of book please
I just realized I can’t subscribe to comments here, like at the RSS blog. Whoops!
It’s called Fight or Flight, a romantic adventure coming out from Carina Press. Thanks for asking!
I just meat my goal for today and it was like a break in the dam, especially seeing that I haven’t been able to write the last couple of days. Guess I’m back on the saddle.
Woohoo! Don’t you love when you get back on the saddle?
Good luck on your goal tomorrow!
Kim and Vivi: Sorry I missed today’s early morning sprint! Wound up getting a late dinner last night which led to a late start to last night’s writing, thanks to watching Burn Notice and Off The Map. Next thing I knew… it was 3 a.m., and I finally passed out. Didn’t even hear the alarm ring at 5:30 today. Will be there next week!
We missed you! I had a rough morning, and ended up having to cut about half what I wrote. I figured out, I CAN be too sleepy to write
Strange things happen when I’m too sleepy.
Easily made my goal today. This writing festival ROCKS!
Thanks, CarolRose! It’s so great to hear about your success with the Festival!
I earned my point today by revising 500 words down to 419.
Woot! Condensing is hard.
Did you check out the Ruby post for Jan 27? It’s on this very topic (rubyslipperedsisterhood.com)
I earned two points by writing short stories about what my friend’s minds look like.
I totally want to read those!!
