Yes! Yes! Yes!
It’s finally the weekend, and I’m about to start a writing sprint in the Chat Room in about six minutes!!
I’ve had one heck of a crazy week at work, so I’ve got a lot of points to make up.
It’s Day Eleven, so if you’re 100% on track, you should have earned 11 or more points by now. But, if you’re like me and a little behind, there’s still plenty of time to catch up! That’s one of the beautiful things about this Writing Festival: it’s not a sprint. We still have ten days of January, and the whole month of February to reach our goals!
Good luck today, everybody! How’s it going?
I’m plugging along. Working on revisions doesn’t feel like I’m making the kind of progress that seeing that word count go up and up. That’s the beauty of this Festival. It’s about progress, not just numbers. But numbers are so easy to measure.
I’m working on revisions, too, so I know exactly what you mean. And I’ve revised this WIP so much already that, some days, I feel like I’m beating a dead horse. Writing during basketball season at my house is almost impossible, though — three kids on teams this year — so revising is my way of making forward progress since I can start and stop at a moment’s notice without losing just the PERFECT idea because it’s time to leave for someone’s practice or game.
Revisions are SOOO important–and so easy to put off! You’re doing great!!
Yay for revisions! They totally count as progress! And so smart Heidi to strive for something manageable for your life right now. I have more work in a few months, so I’m “saving” a round of revisions for then so that I can make forward momentum too!
Sometimes I exceed my daily target (once by 5 times) and it always makes me happy. Aim low, shoot for the stars, and all that. Most importantly, I’m actually writing and moving the plot ahead – the best feeling in the world.
Hurray, Eve!! Keep it going!
