Day Forty-Five and WE’RE ALMOST THERE!

The Winter Writing Festival is winding down and as we come into the home stretch, I thought I’d offer up a few reminders of why we do this.  I’m a quote fiend and these are some that I’ve collected that speak to me.   I hope you enjoy them as much as I do and, even more, I hope you see yourself in the words.

“Everything you can imagine is real.” – Pablo Picasso

“Achievement is largely the product of steadily raising one’s levels of aspiration and expectation.” – Jack Nicklaus

“Wear the old coat and buy the new book.” –Austin Phelps

“Inspiration is wonderful when it happens, but the writer must develop an approach for the rest of the time…The wait is simply too long.” –Leonard Bernstein

“Do not consider painful what is good for you.” –Euripides

“Fiction is obliged to stick to possibilities. Truth isn’t.” –Mark Twain

“Literature is my Utopia. Here I am not disenfranchised. No barrier of senses shuts me out from the sweet, gracious discourses of my book friends. They talk to me without embarrassment or awkwardness.” – Helen Keller

That last one really speaks to me. The idea that the words we put on a page have universal accessibility is an awesome thought.

Happy Writing!  And let us know how it’s going today!

XOXO,

Addison

“Wear the old coat and buy the new book”….story of my life! But maybe a key to happiness! Thanks, Addison!

LOL! I’ve just revised another 1,000 words and so earned my point early today. Thus I will be slipping into my old coat and buying the new J.D. Robb today. : )

Great quotes, Addison! I really love the one about ‘Wear an old coat and buy the New book’ I should tattoo that across my fourhead. In fact I went out a bought a book today.

    :)

  5. Yep, that one’s my favorite, too!

I keep forgetting to come back here and update my points. But the spirit of the festival has never left me, and I’ve been consistent with my goals! Revisions are 60% complete. :)

  6. I’m going to need more poster board—and more walls!

This is my favorite all time quote about creating a character. It’s from Arthur Miller:
“It is necessary, if one is to reflect reality, not only to depict why a man does what he does, or why he nearly didn’t do it, but why he cannot simply walk away and say to hell with it.”
I just love it. That being said, I spent my cash at Borders this weekend.
    :)

And I love the Jack Nicklaus one, too. I’m going to keep that one and try to live by it.
