Day Twenty-One, and You’ve Got a New Habit!

Last year at this time, Ruby Sister Addison Fox reminded us that it takes 21 days to form a habit. Well, if you’ve been writing with us every day for the 21 days of the Festival so far, you’ve got a new addiction: daily writing! And–unlike caffeine, chocolate, smoking, or watching constant re-runs of Cake Boss on Netflix–it’s not an addiction you need to break.
Congrats, daily-writing addictees! Go forth and indulge your habit to the fullest!
YES
I had this same feeling May when I made it 21 days of sticking to my goal. If like me you tend to rebound and yo-yo, just sticking to a small, manageable is absolutely key.
I seem to be past the evil block now. I did two #1k1hr sprints today, although one was hampered by my “morning writing circle” buddies who wanted to make their own books. DD’s writing about a green oceans. DS just wants to eat the markers. But we had fun and mama got 300 words in. Then I put out another 1500 when they napped.
How is the grading going? This is a bad grading week for me, so my next few days are going to be tough writing wise, but I bet my load is absolutely nothing like yours!
Your morning writing circle sounds adorable!!!
And congrats on getting the habit rolling regardless.
I’m closing in on the end of my grading…though of course the new semester is rushing right up to fill all space available. Will. not. let it.
So weird that you mention this now; late last night it hit me, that after a crazy day of serving three schools and two meetings, and then an evening program for my senior (she is a Kansas honor student, I am a proud Mom!), and then late night grocery shopping…anyway, it was normal busy stuff, but I still got in about a page of new writing. Not like meeting my daily goal, but i still wrote, because it felt more normal to just fit a little bit in. so hurray for good habits!
Hope your last couple of day of mega-grading are going well.
Hurrah!
I have to say that even with all the grading, I’m at least THINKING about my stories, and they’re developing in my head, thanks to the first couple weeks of the Festival when I was writing daily.
Huzzah for new habits!!! =0)
Huzzah, indeed! May they go bone-deep!
So far I’m right there with you! Though I may not check in everyday–I’ve learned to keep a journal lately to keep track of my work on a daily basis.
I’ve done over two hours of ‘writing’ work today–(sent in submissions and queries!!)
Written over 1,000 words (getting on tonight for another 1k1h before bed)
And revised the scene I wrote yesterday.
(and I still had time to play ‘Oblivion’!!)
Hugs!
Awesome, Loni!
Keeping a daily journal sounds like a great idea for keeping yourself on track. I know I’d never make it through NaNoWriMo without a daily log.
I took a break and ran some errands today, grocery store, etc. I stopped at the Michael’s with coupons and realized it had been so long since I had done any of the crafts that I used to enjoy…because I spend all of my time WRITING…

Bwaaa-haaa-haaa…we’ve got you now!!
