Day Two of the Festival!

Great turnout so far!  We’ve got a couple hundred people writing together for the Festival, and more are always welcome!  Be sure to login and update your profile to show your progress.  By the end of today, you should be aiming to have three total points (the bonus point for signing up, plus a point each for meeting your goal yesterday and today.)

No worries if you got a late start!  You can still give yourself a bonus point today if you’re just starting…it’s all up to you!  (Look under “About” above for all the details of how the Festival works.)

And for a little inspiration, jump over to the Ruby Slippered Sisterhood blog (rubyslipperedsisterhood.com) for an interview with 2009 Golden Heart finalist Liz Talley, whose THIRD book has just been published!

And keep those delightful brag posts coming!!

Well so far I’ve written almost 1K of a chapter outline for a new book…the one I attempted to write during NaNo but failed to accomplish since I didn’t have much of a plan. It’s my first fantasy setting book…so I’m a little overwhelmed at the world building aspect, but I have enough to start writing the draft (hopefully today). Have the first 8 chapters loosely outlined so I figure that’s enough to at least get me started!

Lots of research today. Plus, I’m pretty sure I’ll meet my word count! Day two = Awesome!

  3. Liz Talley says:

I’ve done over 3000 words today. I have to make up for yesterday. An unplanned root canal had me curbed for most of yesterday – only got in 900 words. So I’m having to make up my words. Need 10,000 by the end of the week.

  4. Iris says:

Met my revisions goal today. Woo hoo! Feels good.

  5. CarolRose says:

Made my goal! Just over 1,000 words today! :)

  6. Anne Barton says:

Yay DMarie, Jenn, Liz (WOW), Iris, and CarolRose!!! You girls rock.

I’d love to try a couple sprints tonight. Stop by the chatroom after 8 if you want to join me!

  7. Elise Hayes says:

I wrote for an hour and twenty minutes today. Whoo-hoo!! That meets my one-hour goal and puts a bit of time in the bank in case of emergencies later in the week.

I’m working on revisions–I was able to revise the first scene in the book, plus start revisions on scene #2.

  8. Emily says:

I wrote for an hour and thrity minutes. Whoo-hoo! Becaues that’s a personal best for me and it’s because I had the house to myself. I live at home(long story) and I don’t get much alone time. So I made my goal of 250 words. Plus I’ve set a new goal to take Sunday as a day to veg out and re-energize my brain.

  9. Anna says:

Met goal plenty early to cook a lovely dinner tonight. Have 15K words finished on first draft of WIP. 15% of the way there!

  10. Anne Barton says:

oooh, what’s for dinner and what time should we be over?

  11. michal scott says:

Yes! Rang the bell again today. I did 633 words and earned my reward: to watch the new NCIS ep tonight at eight. Thank you sisterhood. This festival is great for my writing soul!

  12. Earned my point in edits today, prepping one thing (several pages) to go back to an editor and another thing (two pages) to prep for typesetting.

Three tasty, tasty points total. Mmm. Points.

  13. Everyone’s doing so great so far!

I did 1237 words today, over my 500-word daily goal.

  14. Diana Layne says:

Yeah, baby, day 2 was a success with two hours of plotting. I also realized I’m going to have to add research in as part of my goals b/c there’s lots about this story I’ll need to research.

I’m so excited that everyone is on a roll, some passing their personal best, how awesome!

  15. Just over 2,000 words today. Starting to feel like I’m going to make it. I know it is just day 2, but I’ve been working on this story since last August. I can’t exactly say which draft # this is, since I keep restarting when I get to a dead end. But I think this version is going to be the one. Once it’s revised and polished, that is.

  16. Lynda Bailey says:

Got 461 new words written today. Not the 500 needed for a point, but I did edit 7 pages – two more than my goal! So one more point for me!
Two and counting! Love this festival!

  17. another point today. one hour–just finished (much later than I intended but the bad weather distracted me. Enough frozen precip already, although, as an excuse not to write, it’s a good one). 700 words.

  18. sidney says:

I forgot that I signed up for this. Day 1 and 2 met 1500 word goals. Still have another 700 words to go today though!
