First Day of Week Two!!

It’s a brand new week, folks–and for most of us it’s a bonus day off from the day job! ¬†Perfect for meeting today’s writing goals! (If you’re on target, and you got that bonus point on the first day, you should be up to NINE points…don’t forget to update your progress bar in your Profile!)

For those of you in the midst of revisions, this is a great day to check out the post on the regular Ruby blog (rubyslipperedsisterhood.com). You can read the whole post by clicking on the blue title line in the “Today on the Ruby blog” section at the top of this page. ¬†Today we’re talking about classic manuscript mistakes that make readers stop reading. Check it out–you may say “ouch!,” but you may recognize something to root out in your own revisions!

Unfortunately I don’t get today off–but it’s super slow at work (has been all month; that’s real estate for you). So I hope to get a little writing in today during the slow periods. I need to catch up since I didn’t get a chance to write at all this weekend.

  2. Emma Leigh says:

I don’t have the day off today either, but am looking forward to a full hour at lunch and getting some writing done then.

  3. Elisa Beatty says:

I’m heading for the computer now! It’s a day off for me (God bless Federal holidays for schools! I’m a teacher)…and while I have HOURS of student essay grading to do that will more than eat up my “holiday”, I’m going to go do my hour of BICHOK on my WIP before sitting down to work work.

  4. Teresa Hearl says:

I’m a late entry, but I need this! My goal is 500 words a day and to finish the plot line of my WIP. I have written more than 500 words since Jan 10, so I’ll claim 1 point for that. Now I must quell my Internet addiction and get to work.

  5. Kelli Scott says:

I did edit some chapters yesterday – lost words instead of gaining. But I gave myself some credit for the “time served”. Still a little behind the curve.

  6. Addison Fox says:

I’ve been a very bad Ruby and wasn’t able to visit much beyond a drive by view of all the progress in week 1. I’m loving the start of week 2 (with a day off from work!!) :-)

It looks like everyone’s off to a fabulous start!!!

So that I can log points, I’m in for 1K words a day!

    XOXO,
    Addison

Just a thought. Is there an explanation somewhere about the writing sprints and how to get into the chat room? Sorry if it’s there and I just can’t find it. N.

    • Rita Henuber says:

      Nancy,
On the home page on the left is a blue menu box with the sprint times. if you want to join in go the the dark blue menu at the top of the page click connect then chat. next you will need to give your chat name and then be taken to a screen where you will see ‘folder’ tabs. click on the one that says sprint. you will come into the sprint room.

  8. Emily says:

Week one turned out to be great. I worte over thousand words. This week I hope to make it the same. Today I’m working on the dreaded synopsis.

Hope everyone has a great week.

  9. Elisa Beatty says:

Woo! just earned my point for today. Now off to grade student papers…..

  10. My weekends are designated family focus, and I did that, but I also wrote double my daily word count goal on Saturday, so yay for me! Today isn’t working out so well, but despite the fact that I’ve exceeded my goal every day and could skip today and still get the point because of saving up words, Misty will kick my butt if I do that. So I’ll squeeze it in somehow. I’ll report back later… :)

  11. Kristina Mathews says:

So I have over 3,000 words started on the second book in the series. I think I’ve found a way to work in a subplot I just couldn’t fit in the first book. I will plug away at the new stuff for this week anyway and see where I am at the end of the week. This has been so freeing for me. Having a daily goal has made it easier to slip away when I need to spend time working. and also seeing the progress makes it easier to turn off the laptop and hang with the family without worrying about how much I am not writing.

  12. Liz Talley says:

I did great last week and I’m heading over to the chatroom so I can finish off my daily goal. Hoping for another good week.

  13. michal scott says:

I’ve just finished 847 words so I get to ring the point bell again. Week two has started off with a bang. Yea!

  14. Tina Joyce says:

No writing accomplished over the weekend, but I made up for it today!

Sounds like everyone is doing an awesome job earning those points! Way to go!

  15. CarolRose says:

    Met my goal again! :)

  16. Elisa Beatty says:

Congrats, everybody!! So glad it’s going well!
