The Writing Festival is HERE!!!

I’m so thrilled we’re starting again! Welcome back, all our wonderful friends from last year’s Festival, and welcome to all newcomers!

Drop by the Brag Blog anytime to share a little about how you’re doing with your writing–both highs and lows are welcome! If you need a little encouragement or inspiration, or just a place to vent, we’ll be here for you!

On the regular Ruby blog, we’ll do goal check-ins only once a week, on Wednesdays. But feel free to check in with the Brag Blog daily to report your progress and keep yourself on track.

We’ll cheer you on and try to keep the muse’s fire lit for you for all 50 days of the RSSWWF!

So good to see you again, Elisa. Sinus surgery knocked me out of this last year, but I’m much better now. Considering my schedule, I set my sights a bit lower this year so I can be more successful.
Write two pages per day, OR spend an hour doing writing sprints OR Butt in Chair 2 hours, AND Friday nights date night with hubby, Sundays off for spirituality, sanity, and laundry. See you in the Sprint room.

I am new to this RWWF and not sure where on Brag Blog to comment. Is this the right place? I participated this am for the 9-11 word spring and got 859 words accomplished–very rough, but now revising and polishing it up.

      Fabulous!!

Yes, you’re leaving a comment in the right place. (I’ll have to ask our Webmistress to add a more obvious “leave comment” bar.)

How great that you jumped right into the sprints the first morning, and have 859 shiny new words to show for it! Hurray, you!!!

    Hey Elisa,
goals met for the day and I’m still working.

  4. Juliet Martini says:

Considsering two of my former critique partners are members of the sisterhood, and a number of my current critique partners are taking part in the challenge, I’m looking forward to this. Can’t wait! I’m determined to get my current WIP finished by this fall!

    Good Luck Everyone!

  5. Hey Elisa,
I’m back at it this year with a novella to polish. Goal for today is to polish up Ch#1 to send to my crit buddy and maybe if I have the time Ch#2 as well. After that roughly 2-3pgs per day of revision/edit work to send more chapters off for crit.

Looking forward to another fun & successful round–time well spent. :)

    Good luck to everyone!

I cleaned my desk, even my keyboard! I still have to run out tonight; late meeting at school, kids, etc, and knew when I settle in to accomplish something tonight that a messy desk would just make me discouraged. So I’ve cleaned that baby up, and am ready for some revision magic later… (I hope, hope, hope) ;)

    Good luck to everyone!

  7. Still working on my goal for today. So many shiny distractions! LOL. I’ll get there. Hoping to join a sprint for tonight. Squee!

  8. Got a #1k1hr (Got 938 words, then pushed a few more minutes to pass 1K :) ) in while kiddies napped so I got my point for the day, but I’m also hoping to join the late evening sprint if my kiddies go to bed early enough (west coaster here). If I make it, that will give me a bonus point to hold in reserve, but more importantly, will keep my momentum going :) :) :) So excited to pass the halfway point on this MS draft now and just want to Get. It. Done. :)

  9. Loni Lynne says:

I did it! Today I reached my goal of 1,000 words. Actually, over 1,421 at last count–added a few more tonight.

I also revised my first chapter of my new WIP and kept BICHOK for over 2 hours.

Woo-hoo! Go me!! Sorry, self gratification there!

  10. Kristina Mathews says:

I met two goals today. Wrote 1,000 words and revised one scene. Add in the bonus point and I’m off to a great start.

And I thought I’d have a hard time today. Were running late and didn’t get my 20 minutes before work. Both boys have music lessons and we need to leave in 1 minute for the Geography Bee. I guess that goes to show that there is more time in the day when you force yourself to work. A,lso bringing my laptop to school pickup and music lessons really helps.

  11. Jena Lang says:

I raced home from work today and got right to work. I revised a scene to polish my dialogue and reached my goal of 500 words. Tomorrow I plan to pick up where I left off. Can’t wait! =)

  12. Kayla says:

Thanks, Gwynlyn, for the shove! I’m hear and ready to go. 1000 words a day…that’s the goal…

  13. Anna says:

Well, this is a brag blog, so… I’m going to brag!

I slaved today, didn’t get my butt off the futon (which I’m not especially proud of — I need to move, too!) and got 1600 on WIP #1, the monster that was supposed to be a short that took on a life of it’s own thanks to a very entertaining heroine. And 2900 new words on WIP #2.

  14. Kayla Westra says:

    Great,Anna!
I wasn’t sure the sprint would work, but I’m at a hotel due to work meetings, and no distractions, and it was great! Thanks, all!

  15. melmacek says:

I almost forgot to log in! My goal is to write 100 words a day editing one of my manuscripts. I participated in sprints for the first time during NaNo and loved them. Looking forward to this adventure.

  16. E. Ayers says:

Waving a big hello to everyone. All these new faces and names, LOL, and I’m the new person here. The night is not over for me but I’m plugging away. I have a 30K novella to shove out the door and a another full length novel to polish and kick out.

I’m a lone writer. I might try to join a sprint, but mostly, I get into my own private groove and write my heart out. Everything else is a distraction.

Somehow I made today’s goal but I’m hoping to push a few more words over the edge. (Can I give up sleeping?)
    E.

    • Elisa Beatty says:

Welcome! You’re far from the only first timer we’ve got this year! (Have you been over to the regular Ruby blog? Yesterday’s post had close to 300 comments…many by folks joining the Festival for the first time).

      It’s a great event!

  17. csmaxwell says:

OMG- I earned 4 pts yesterday and I slid under the wire on my word count for the day at 1,519. **wipes sweat off brow.
Ready for another sprint this am!

  18. Teresa Hearl says:

I din’t know I could earn extra point for a day. In that case, I have to add one for today. Yay! I was BICHOK two hours, twice, thanks to a schedule change. That makes a total of four points. So far, so good.
