The 2019 Winter Writing Festival Starts Right Now!!

Posted Jan 9 2019, 11:37 pm

YAY!!!! It’s time to GET STARTED on a brand-new, beautiful Winter Writing Fest!!!

I’m brewing up a huge tub of hot coffee and should be pulling some warm cookies out of the oven for everybody any minute now. I hope you’ve found a nice, cozy writing nook, and maybe have some fuzzy slippers and a warm sweater on so you can ignore the cold outside and get down to some serious writing progress.

Make sure to stop over at the regular Ruby Slippered Sisterhood blog today ( to formally declare your participation in the WWF (and have a chance to win some of today’s fun prizes!!).

The regular site has Check-In days every Thursday this year, but the Brag Blog is here every single day if you want to check in about daily progress, celebrate a milestone, vent about a rough day, ask a question, or get a dose of support. We’re always here for you!!!

HI. I’m getting back at writing after about a two year hiatus. Eager to enjoy the accountability of this event. I will earn my points by writing 500 words OR editing for an hour OR reading craft books/articles for an hour OR filling out Skye Warren’s worksheets for an hour AND spending 30 minutes prime time with my husband.
    Excited to try a sprint!!

I’m a little nervous about being here. I don’t do romance, even though I occasionally read it. I write traditional murder mysteries. I actually tried to write a romantic scene once, and never got past the first kiss! Is that weird, or what?
But I know romance authors are just awesome, based on my experiences with them on twitter. And I figured I need some accountability if I will ever finish my first manuscript. I hope it’s okay I’m in here.

We’re delighted to have you, Tammy! Several of the Rubies write mystery, with or without the kissing. We love all genres!!!

And, yeah, we ALL need accountability.

I highly recommend joining in the sprints in the Chat Room!! Lots of folks who write something other than Romance join in, and nobody will know what you’re writing anyway. Words on the page, that’s what we’re all here for!!

      Welcome!! Have a fabulous WWF!

I just registered for the festival! I’m a little late to the party. This is my first time doing any writing festival (if you don’t count NaNoWriMo) and I am a little nervous. I write Science Fiction and am an utter noob at this. First timer for everything here. I’m really excited to be doing this!

      Welcome, Krystal!!

Nothing to be nervous about with the WWF. You choose parameters that work for you, and just try to stick with them.

I 100% recommend dropping by the chat room for a writing sprint as soon as possible. It’s friendly and low stress, and super supportive. A great way to boost your word count, and usually one of the things people like best about the Festival. So glad you’re with us!!
